Recap

Uncategorised Posted on Tue, September 03, 2019 18:53:49

Long time and no time for the webpage. Since last I have written an animated movie ÅR 805 (see it here), a monologue (OP PÅ HESTEN IGEN), and three more plays for Jels Vikingespil (THOR, HAMMER & KÆRLIGHED, ULVESOMMER og RINGGULDET).

STARKAD – new play

whats up? Posted on Thu, July 30, 2015 17:02:50

I have been invited to write a new play for the 2016 production of an open air viking play in Jels, Denmark. This is maybe one of the most spectacular settings in DK … see the pix below. The theater can take 1.400 seated audiences. You can find their homepage here (in Danish).

I have been at it the last month, and I am writing about a very interesting character, STARKAD (which is also giving name to the play), the most brutal and violent fighter of the viking ages. The cool thing is: they want a lot of characters, two hours of play time, horseriding, fire and fireworks, and tons of action and stage fights.

In abundance I have really enjoyed reading many Icelandic sagas in a new translation from 2008 – and they are really good! – and a wonderful translation of Beowulf made by the late Seamus Heaney – also a most fantastic reading experience.

“The musicality of the actors, the supernice songs and the razersharp timing makes the witty story about Saltimbocca fly!”
